Week 3 - March 1, 2017

Hello Everyone,

Week 3!! I cannot believe I am on week 3 already, it seems like I just came here not so long ago. It's super crazy how much time flies.

So this week has been super busy, we are at that point where we are starting to get the hang of everything, and we are expected to speak only in Nihongo in class. After the surprise, we had last week we got another kyodosha, and this time we all knew it was our teacher. When Larsen Shimai and I had our first lesson with him we tried to focus more on what the kyodosha was feeling, than what we missionaries are feeling towards how we can say things in Nihongo, and let me tell you this. The holy ghost Is always there by your side. It may be hard to recognize it but it's there. The lesson was going so good until our kyodosha asked about who the Savior is. It was tough not because we didn't know the answer, but because we didn't know how to respond in Nihongo. But because the spirit was so strong during our lesson we responded with our broken Japanese, and even though it was broken, and our sentences didn't make sense, it didn't matter because at the end of that lesson we had felt the spirit, and not only that but we had felt that our kyodosha had felt it too.

One of our sensai had made us do this role play with us on Tuesday, what was interesting about this lesson was that she was wanting us to do it in Chinese! Yes, Chinese. Her point in her lesson was that although you may not have the best grasp of the language, as long as you have the spirit with you, your message will be there and the spirit will be there with your kyodosha.

This week we also had our first TRC, where we meet up with a member or an investigator and teach them a lesson in Nihongo. I felt so good about this lesson, not only because it was super fun, but because it went so smoothly. I was so happy and became more confident in how to teach.

In our recent devotional yesterday, we had Elder Brent H. Nielson talk to us about missionary work and how important it is. He made this great point, where he talked about our mission call and how important it is for us to know that we aren't called to the place where we are serving, but we were called to be a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He made this point that really made me think. It's not about where you are called, and it's not about how

It's been super fun being here at the MTC, I'm grateful for every moment I get to be able to grow and learn the language.

Guess who followed me to the MTC
